Eddie Owen

Eddie Owen serves as Director of Bands at Liberty High School where he co teaches Marching Band, conducts the Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Clarinet Choir and also assists with middle school band at both Discovery and Liberty Middle Schools.  Mr. Owen holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Missouri Western State College (now Missouri Western State University) and a Master of Music Education from the Conservatory at the University of Missouri – Kansas City.  Mr. Owen began his teaching career at Excelsior Springs Middle School and High School and has also served at Oak Park High School and Staley High School.

Brittany True 

Brittany True serves as Associate Band Director at Liberty High School where she co teaches Marching Band, conducts the Concert Band, Brass Choir and several brass ensembles.  She also assists at both Discovery and Liberty Middle School.  Mrs. True holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Northwest Missouri State University and a Master of Music Education from the Conservatory at the University of Missouri - Kansas City.  Mrs. True began her teaching career in 2014 in the Smithville School District as Assistant Band Director.

Jill Endaya

Jill Endaya serves as the Battery Instructor at Liberty High School. During the day, Ms. Endaya is a chemistry teacher at the high school. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Central Missouri. Ms. Endaya is proud to have worked with many groups in the area, most recently with Odessa High School and their award winning indoor percussion program. On her free time, you can see her playing snare drum for the Kansas City Chiefs Rumble Drumline or handbells for Kansas City's auditioned handbell ensemble: Rezound!.

Jeff Seba

Jeff Seba is the Frontline Ensemble Director at Liberty High School and the elementary music teacher at Ridgeview Elementary.  Mr. Seba graduated from the Conservatory at the University of Missouri - Kansas City with a Bachelor's in Music Education.  Mr. Seba also teaches percussion privately, and performs regularly as a drummer and percussionist with the Joel Gordon Trio and the Fountain City Brass Band.

Jennifer Cannon

Jennifer Cannon serves as the Color Guard Director at Liberty High School. She teaches elementary computer science at Kearney Elementary School. Mrs. Cannon holds a Bachelor of Science in Entertainment Management from Missouri State University, a Masters of Arts in Teaching & Masters of Education, Instructional Technology both from Park University. In her time at Missouri State University she was a member of the Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble in addition to The Pride of Missouri State Marching Program, Winter Guard & Winter Drumline. She has performed with the DCI group Seattle Cascades in 2004 and at WGI Finals with both National Avenue Winter Guard & The Pride of SMSU Winter Drum Line earning a silver medal in PIO class. Mrs. Cannon began coaching at St. Clair High School in St. Clair, Mo and has also served Staley High School, Park Hill South High School and Kearney High School.

Mark Fangmann

Mark Fangmann serves as Director of Bands at Liberty Middle School where he teaches Concert Band, Cadet Band, Beginning Band and Jazz Band.

Marti Whelan

Marti Whelan is the band director at Discovery Middle School and a private bassoon instructor in the Liberty School District.  She is currently in her 30th year as a music educator.  


Marti received her BME from Central Methodist College, where she played under the direction of Professor Keith House.  She attended graduate school at UMKC and studied bassoon with Marita Abner. She is a graduate of Lee’s Summit High School and was a student of Russ Berlin and Jim Oliver.  


Marti is co-principal bassoonist of the Lee’s Summit Symphony Orchestra and has played in the group for 15 years.
